"Okay okay so not all girls are bad." Strongheart modified what he said, even though he still felt that girls were wimps. Although seeing Mali holding the mouse, Strongheart had a little respect for her as that mouse was as ugly as they came.

Celise settled down with Kitty, stroking her fur when she saw the shadow of the young Duchess Ravenwaves approach her. She held Kitty tighter and drew back in fear.
A loud crack echoed through the room - silence raining down on the room as the sound of a hand connecting with a facial bone resounded. A soft whimper started next.
Jules, ever trained to hear the sounds of his siblings, recognized that whimper. "Celise!" he cried, running over. He froze when he saw Kitty spitting at the young Duchess. "Strongheart, over here now."

"What's wrong?" Strongheart asked as he ran over to Jules and his younger sister. Spotting Ravenwaves standing before them, Strongheart paused a second to wonder what she was doing here before going into a formal bow, "My Lady, tis a pleasure to see you."

Ravenwaves sneered at Celise one last time before turning on the charm for Strongheart. "Mama heard you were having a "coming out" party as it were and thought I should attend, in case you have forgotten about us," she said with a cute giggle. Her gaze drifted over to Celise and she couldn't resist the dig. "I see the peasents are out meeting you as well."

Jules had to remember his manners and not draw his sword on Ravenwaves. "M'lady would do good to remember that she is a guest here as much as we are," he said in a cold tone. "And we are far from peasants if we were to be oh so technical. My family is part of the royal guard," he said.
Celise whimpered softly, a crimson stain on her face from where Ravenwaves had slapped her. "Wanna go'me," she whimpered, looking up at Jules, her face stained with tears.

So that was the Duchess Ravenwaves, it was weird to finally put a face to the name. Mali was just grateful she wasn't named after her hair color like so many other people her age, it was bad enough that pitch black hair was a rare color on Lovelylocks.
Mali didn't like the tone the Duchess was giving off, she saw nothing wrong with peasants but then she was one so that might change something. "Indeed us peasants are out to meet Prince Strongheart and since I seem to be the only one here that is a peasant, I shall take my leave. Your highness, My Lady, Sir Roland, Miss Celise, Sir Jules." Mali nodded to each as she said their names, turning to leave she remembered the mouse still in her hands. "Oh, Sir Jules I do believe that this is yours..." Mali said holding out the mouse.

Strongheart absently nodded to Mali before turning his attention back to Ravenwaves, he didn't particularly trust her but he had to be nice. "My Lady, I must insist that you apologize to Miss Celise."

Jules glanced at Mali and decided that the mouse would be put to good use before it died. He reached over, took the mouse, walked over to Ravenwaves and in a bold move, dropped it down the top of her dress so it landed in a very awkward spot. Content, he turned to Strongheart, dipped into a deep bow. "M'lord, I think my sister and I shall depart. We'll spend time with you at a later date." He turned to face Mali and bowed again. "Allow me the honor of escorting you and my sister home."

Well there went any chance of getting an apology out of the Duchess Strongheart thought as he tried not to laugh or give any sign of amusement at the mouse. "Yes I think it best if you depart for right now." Strongheart said his eyes sparkling with mirth before he turned back to Ravenwaves.

Darn he left her with no polite way to say no, "I thank you for your most generous offer." More then ready to get out of there before the duchess started sceeching at them, of all the less then brilliant things the boys had pulled this just had to top them all.

Jules slipped his arms around Celise and Mali, and quickly fled. "Well, that was an entertaining party," Jules said, his tone sounding irritated. "I'm sorry if Ravenwaves had said anything that offended you, M'lady Mali," he said politely. "I rather that she were that pathetic specimin of a mouse."

"That's not a nice thing to say, what in Lovelylocks did that poor mouse do to you deserved to be compared to the Duchess?" Mali said with a perfectly straight face.

"Excellent point. She's more a rat then a mouse, isn't she?"

"Getting warmer but your still insulting the rat." Mali returned unable to keep a straight face any longer.
