Mali pasted a pleasant smile on her face when she caught sight of Bryant entering the Inn. And if it couldn't get any worse he was going to one of her tables, again. She really didn't know how he always managed to go to one of the tables her mother said were hers for the night.
"Bryant, How are you today?" Mali asked, knowing that the answer was going to be the same but she treated all her customers the same, outwardly anyways.
"Amalia," Bryant responded, "I'm just fine and you?"
Mali masked her annoyance at Bryant it looked like they were about to start this all over again. "What can I get for you?"
"I'll have the roast duck and your agreement to marry me." Bryant responded.
"Roast duck it is and we're out of the I'll marry you's." Mali said without missing a beat. His ways of asking got even lamer every time he asked. "Although we do have a new dessert, it's the I'm seeing someone else."

Jules chose that moment to wheel in and spotted *his* girl. "Mali," he called, wheeling over and bringing her hand up to his lips, kissing it. "I missed you, angel."

"Your incorrigible," Mali said with a real grin this time, oblivious to Bryant's sputtering. "And it hasn't been that long since we last saw each other but I'm glad you came to visit."
"Your seeing him?" Bryant sputtered not believing that Mali would chose a handicap over him. So the only reason he became interested in her was that she was the only one he couldn't get to do what he wanted but that was then and still she refused what was best for her; him, not that x-knight.

OOC: assuming that this is pre-wedding
"Celise threw me out of the house after I all too helpfully decided to help her pick her color scheme for the flowers," he admitted, laughing. "I was just trying to be helpful.

Mali laughed at that one, "And what were your color suggestions?"
Bryant was starting to get annoyed, how dare this man inturupt him. Bryant was more important then that wheel chaired man would ever be.

"Anything but blinding pink and other fluffy feminine colors that Ariane and Hélène talked her into getting."

"They didn't..." Mali trailed off, "Of course they did, and for the record if the bride's maids dresses are blinding pink as well as the flowers, I am dragging Ariane back from that school and forcing her to be in the wedding." Mali commented, she had never worn pink in her life and wasn't about to start; although she would put up with the flowers being a horrendous pink.
Mali's mother surveyed the encounter before her and she didn't like what she saw. What was Amalia doing? Did her daughter really pity Jules enough to even pretend she felt anything for Jules. Mali's mother sighed, Amalia was not doing as she was supposed to, be the good little girl and do what her mother bid her. Although Jules's sister was going to marry Prince Strongheart, which was worth more to her? To be the mother-in-law to the brother-in-law of the king or the land Bryant promised her for her daughter. She would have to think on it and perhaps get more out of the bargain if she played it right.

"Celise finally gave in to the pair, she couldn't handle them. Luckily, she put her foot down in regards to the bridesmaids' dresses. They're a lovely shade of cream."

"Cream and pink, hmm. I think I could possibly survive that." Mali chuckled, wondering once again just how she managed to become the unofficial Bride's maid for her Prince's wedding.
Bryant had enough of the man taking up his future wife's time. "Amalia, my order." Anything to distract Amalia from that man.
"Sorry, Bryant, Do you want anything besides.. it was the roast duck wasn't it?"
"Yes and no just the dinner is fine for now."
"Fine, it will just be a few minutes. Jules I should be able to escape for a few minutes, after I put this order in."

Jules nodded as he leaned back in his chair. "Take your time, Mali. I'm in no hurry."

With that Mali dissappeared into the kitchen and into her mother waiting clutches.
"So how long have you been seeing Amalia?" Byrant asked, already plotting ways to get this handicapped man to leave Amalia alone.

"Long enough," Jules said, purposely being vague. "I don't see where it's your concern. Whatever Mali and I have is a private matter." He shook his head. "Besides, why do you keep calling her Amalia when you know she hates it?" He sighed inaudibly. He had been one of the prince's best soldiers and had the uncanny gift of being able to read people. "Whatever your plotting, forget it. Or have you forgotten who my brother in law is going to be?"

"Amalia suits her much better then Mali ever will, and I know exactly who your future brother in law is. Going to use him to try and stop me because you cant?" Bryant inquired.

For the first time since his injury, Jules stood up and took several shaky steps before unsheathing his sword that he had brought with him. He placed the tip of the blade under Bryant's chin and gave him his best roguish grin.
"What makes you think I can't handle this myself?" he asked, trying his best to remain standing - even if it hurt to do so. He was putting himself through his pain - for Mali.

Bryant bit back a swallow, feeling the tip of Jules's sword on his neck.
When Clarissa came racing into the kitchen babbling something about Jules with a sword to Bryant's throat, Mali turned and headed out into the main room to see what she was talking about.
Mali paused at the door to the main room and stared at the situation before her. This had to be the first time she had ever seen Bryant not looking like he was better then everyone else and Jules... Jules was standing?
Making her way over to Jules, Mali stood beside him. Tentatively she put her hand on his arm, Mali didn't know how he would react but she trusted him. "Withdraw your sword, he's not worth it. I don't know what he said but you and I know what ever it was it's not true."
