Jules lowered his sword, slowly, but not before popping the buttons off his rival's shirt. He was trembling and took several shake steps back to his wheelchair, where he sat, visibly winded and visibly in pain.

Now that the sword was away from his neck Bryant's bravo came back; looking smug he stared down at Jules.
Mali who had been issuing orders for people to do when Jules stepped back just caught Bryant's smug look. "You silly fool, I know not what you said and I don't want to know but do not for an instant think I asked Jules to stop for your health." Mali informed him before completely turning her attention to Jules. "If I were to ask how your feeling at the moment, would I get an honest answer?"
Bryant's smug look turned to one of disgust before he sat back down at his table and drowned his drunk.

Jules looked up at Mali. "I think he was about to imply that your feelings for me were born out of pity."

Lifting his arm, Mali sat on the arm of his chair; once she was settled, Mali set his arm on her lap. "And he would know how my feelings came to be; he can't even tell I don't like him. What on earth do I have to pity you about? Let everyone else think whatever they want, they are going to anyways but is there any doubts that you have, anything I can do to prove that what I feel has nothing to do with pity."

"It's all right," Jules said quietly. "I'm fine. People are just stupid, present company excluded."

Mali still didn't say anything about Jules being able to walk, she was ecstatic that he could walk but Mali was also terrified that because he could walk, the other women would be back and Mali knew that she wouldn't stand a chance against any of them. Mali would take what ever and how ever long she had with Jules, she would just make the most of it and cherish it when it was over.
Brushing her fingers through his hair, Mali pushed his hair back out of his face as she studied him for a moment, he would never admit it but Mali suspected that all of this was hurting him. The people he had called friends, either pitied him or worse acted like he was a completely different person because if the chair. At that moment Mali realized just how much she wanted to sooth away those hurts. "No it's not all right, stupidity is not an excuse to escape dealing with their own fears." Mali commented, oblivious the angry murmur from the patrons.

"Mali? Can you help me home please?" Jules asked in a soft voice. "Suddenly, I don't feel up to being in a crowd of people.

Mali nodded her agreement, and got off the arm of the chair. Jules was in pain and didn't need to deal with her in his way. With a glare at Bryant and a motion for one of the girls to fill his mug again, Mali followed Jules out of the Inn.
Once they were outside Mali stepped behind Jules and helped push him home. "How are you feeling?"

"Like hell," Jules said quietly. "I shouldn't have done that but I thought I had enough strength to pull it off."

"Let's get you home, and you can have a cup of tea and a rest. And you did have the strength to pull if off, it's just that after the event part that everyone tends to forget about." Mali commented,
When they reached Jules's house, "Which do you want first the tea or to lie down." and so help him if he picked something other then the choice she gave him.

"Then chamomile it is." Mali said as she found the tea and started a pot. "Want to bet that we're going to be the topic of converstation for the next couple of days at least?" Mali laughed, "Mugs?" She asked and went to the cupboard that Jules guestured to. "Would you like anything in your tea? And I know your not fussy at the moment."

"Just the tea, nothing fancy," Jules said quietly. "And we probably will be the talk of the town. Hopefully, Strongheart won't have to step in and do something."
